I
have lived in Toronto and Hamilton Ont., St.
Stephens N.B. and for the past 15 years in a
little town called Parkhill . Rural living
is for me. The feeling of community is very
nice.
The reason
that I relocated to Parkhill is for a job as a
draftsperson at Bell Aerospace Textron where I
worked for 5 years until it shut down in
1986. When I started a job search I
soon found that I was redundent without knowing
Cad-Cam(computorized drafting). Going back
to school again with 3 children at home was out
of the question.
My next job was as a custodian in the
public school system. I work in a little
school of about 300 students, grades K. to 8. The
teachers and teaching assistants are realy nice
to be around and the little kids are
fantastic. They say such neat things.
A grade 3 girl interviewed me as part of
an assignment. One of her question's,
"Do you speak another language?"
My answer, "no, but my husband speakes
Danish. Do you know where Denmark
is?" " No." "You
have to sit in an airplane for 8 hours to get
there." After a long thoughtful pause she
said "You sure went a long way to get a
husband."
