ADSL High Speed connection is made using a phone line, ADSL Modem and filters on any telephone device that may be connected to the same phone line (telephone, fax or alarm etc.) A username and password is also required to establish the PPPoE connection from your computer or Gateway router to ISP CANADA.
If you are having trouble connecting to the Internet follow these few troubleshooting tips:
- If you have a network of 2 or more computers using the Internet please check the other computers. If any of them are connecting to the Internet ok, then you have a problem with your network and not the Internet connection.
- The quality of an ADSL connection can be affected by the noise on your phone line and how far away you are from the telephone company central office.
- Your ADLS connection is made up of 2 parts, the ADSL Modem connection (Sync) to Bell Canada has to be made first and then the PPPoE connection to ISP CANADA. Check the following:
- On your ADSL modem check that the DSL light is on.
- The ADSL sync light should be on. If it is not or is flashing, go to step 3. If it is on steady, proceed to step 4.
- If the sync light is flashing, your ADSL modem does not have sync with Bell Canada. Power off the ADSL modem for 10 secounds, then power it up again.
- If you still have no sync. Unplug all other telephone equipment from the phone line which the ADSL modem is connected to. If it still does not work, please call ISP CANADA 519-660-6160.
- If the sync light turns on and off dependent on what telephone equipment is plugged in, you may need to have the filter replaced on that telephone equipment.
- If the ADSL sync light is on and steady, then check the LAN lights. If the LAN light on the ADSL modem is on, you should be able to use the Internet.
- If the LAN light is not on, then power off your gateway router for 10 seconds and power it up again. If you do not have a gateway router and your computer is attached directly to the ADSL modem, then reboot your computer. If the LAN light comes on then you should be able to use the Internet.
If your are not able to use the Internet at this time please call ISP CANADA 519-660-6160
